Nursery

Come and join our outstanding 'Early Years' learning

At our nursery, children thrive in a warm, stimulating environment where exploration and discovery are part of daily life. Each day, the children dive into exciting learning areas tailored to spark curiosity and confidence.

From engaging story time sessions to fun, interactive group activities like phonics, early maths, and speaking & listening, we support every child’s growth with care, creativity, and joy.

Teacher led curriculum

Our learning and development is built around three prime areas:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

We support children in four specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Each of these areas are reflected in our learning areas both indoors and outside. Children have the opportunity to explore different learning areas independently or as part of a guided group with an adult.

Practising the curiosity approach

We have adopted elements of the curiosity approach using natural resources and prioritising opportunities for outdoor play.

  • We take on a supportive and nurturing role for children, and support their learning in the way that they need.
  • We maintain a calm and nurturing environment, carefully considering the impact of the environment on our children’s learning. The environment is the third teacher.
  • Interactions with the children are our main priority- any additional parts of our role as teacher/teaching assistant should be left until an appropriate time of the day where learning is not impacted.
  • We provide open ended provocations for children to spark their curiosity and interest.
  • We pay close attention to the children’s interests and fascinations and use these to build on our planning for the following week.
  • We value our children’s thoughts and opinions and support them to be confident and curious learners, encouraging them to ask questions and investigate their own ideas.
  • We are always positive in our interactions with children, ensuring we are working to build their confidence and self-esteem.
  • We model our expectations to the children and follow rhythms and routines to create a consistent and calm environment.
  • We introduce new experiences, concepts and provocations to engage our children and increase cultural capital.
