Curriculum: All children at Edna G. Olds Academy have the opportunity to access specialist football lessons delivered by a professional coach throughout the spring term. During the football lessons the children are given the opportunity to develop and learn a range of skills. The children are also taught the importance of eating a healthy diet, learn about why they need warm up and practice cool down techniques. Children are taught about key muscle groups and learn exercises to help them to understand how to stretch every muscle group.
Teachers are involved in each session to further develop their subject knowledge in delivering key elements of the National Curriculum. In KS1 teachers have developed their understanding of how to give children the opportunity to participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending. In KS2 teachers have taught children how to play competitive games, and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending.
